Fuel Rochester Mentorship Program
The Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce has thousands of members who are in a position to provide professional guidance to Fuel members. One of the benefits of being a Fuel member is being connected to the Chamber. This opportunity gives young professionals the ability to connect with seasoned professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders in the community. Fuel’s mentorship program allows Fuel members to cultivate a strong relationship with professionals willing to share their experiences.
Fuel members must fill out an online application located below. After reviewing each Fuel member’s interests and expectations, members of the Fuel Rochester Leadership Council will start pairing willing mentors with Fuel members. The Mentorship Program is voluntary and it’s up to you to make the most of it. You must be willing to commit the time to reach out to your mentor on a regular basis.
Our goal is to find an established professional for each Fuel member. Ideally we will pair the Fuel member with a mentor that has a job he/she wants or has interest in pursuing further down the road. The Mentorship Program should neither be time intensive nor is it intended to lead to a job at the mentor’s workplace. This is simply a chance to talk candidly, to learn about life, and hopefully cultivate a relationship with someone who can provide guidance as you continue in your career.
When the matchmaking process is complete, mentors and mentees are expected to connect. Fuel is not responsible for scheduling meetings with mentors and mentees. Some pairs might meet twice a month, others once a month or every other month. In most cases, we hope you will be given opportunities to tour the mentor’s workplace and learn more about his/her career or what has made him/her successful. Other popular mentorship activities include discussing goals, portfolio/resume critiquing and attending networking events together.
Please, if you feel your mentor or mentee is not suited for you, please let us know before the kick-off meeting. Our goal is to pair you with someone you want to meet with.
Please contact the program coordinator, if this is the case then we will want to know for future pairings.
No, the program is not designed for those seeking new employment rather to help Fuel members network with a more experienced professional.
This is ok; the program is designed for Fuel members to engage with an experienced professional.
